Honouring International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day in 2025 is more than a date on the calendar. It is a call to reflect, honour and advocate for women’s voices, resilience and contributions across the world. At Mäesi Apothecary, this day holds deep significance, not only because we are a woman-owned and founded business but because our philosophy is rooted in the wisdom, care, and strength that women have carried for generations.

A Business Built by and for Women

Mäesi Apothecary was born from a love of plants, the rhythms of nature  and the understanding that slow, intentional care is the foundation of wellbeing. As a woman-owned business, it is shaped by the values of nourishment, community and deep rooted wisdom. These qualities have long been carried by women tending to the earth and those they love. Every product is crafted with the belief that skincare is more than routine; it is a ritual, a form of self-respect, and a way to reconnect with the natural world.

Raising the Next Generation

Beyond my business, I am a mother to two daughters, who at the time of writing are 11 and 9. This role makes International Women’s Day even more personal. As I watch them grow, I want them to know a world where they can take up space, pursue their passions, be heard and move through life with confidence and kindness. Through Mäesi Apothecary, I hope to model what it means to build something meaningful, to stand firm in one’s values and to lead with both strength and softness.

The Legacy of Women’s Wisdom

Our work at Mäesi Apothecary is deeply inspired by the generations of women before us - the herbalists, healers, mothers and caretakers who passed down their knowledge of plants, cycles and the importance of tending to both body and soul. Women have long been the keepers of herbal tradition and the makers of change and our formulations and business foundations deeply honour that legacy.

Supporting Women, Today and Always

International Women’s Day is also a reminder that there is still work to be done. Women’s voices must continue to be heard, their contributions recognised and their paths made more accessible. As a small business, we believe in lifting women up - whether it’s through thoughtful, nurturing skincare, supporting other women-led businesses or simply encouraging moments of rest and restoration in a world that often asks too much of us.
