Resin | A Return to Whole Plants
There’s a moment in every skincare formulator's journey when a composition needs to evolve. Not because it wasn’t good enough, but because the business realigned and the herbalist in me called for a shift.
Resin is one of those for me.
The Beginning
When I first created our Face Cream with Sandalwood + Neroli, it was a anhydrous cream - aromatic, decadent, and centred around the grounding notes of Sandalwood and Neroli essential oils. At the time, it was exactly what was needed: a cream to nourish the skin, a moment of stillness in the day. It was beautiful, but over time, I began to feel a quiet pull - an urge to go deeper in my formulation journey, and I listened.
Listening to My Skin - and Yours
As I moved further into my learning journey and my own skincare rituals, I noticed what I was craving. A balm that would hold moisture longer, soften the fine lines around my eyes and mouth, and offer real, lasting support for dry, delicate and sensitive skin.
At the same time, I was hearing more from my customers - women seeking alternatives to harsh actives, looking for something to ease the appearance of scars, sun damage, and the signs of time without disrupting their skin's natural rhythm. Many wanted the benefits of retinol, but without the irritation.
It became clear, I needed to evolve our Face Cream into something more, but with purpose.
A New Generation of Butters
Around the same time, I began working with a new array of butters that had entered the market - Murumuru, Cupuacu and Bacuri. These butters are rich, stable, and deeply support a healthy skin barrier. These butters offered a gentler yet potent path forward, allowing me to create a balm that was more shelf-stable and less prone to crystallising like shea and cacao butters. I also wanted to align this offering with the way I now formulate - slower, more intentional, more rooted in whole plants.
I began turning fully toward the plants I was growing and infusing by hand - Calendula, Helichrysum, Gotu Kola — each one carefully chosen for their ability to support cellular renewal, calm inflammation, and soften scar tissue with grace. I was also drawn to the challenges of using Resins, Frankincense for its boswellic acid and Myrrh for its soothing properties.
The Shift
The Resin you’ll find now is different than its first form of our Sandalwood + Neroli Face Cream, but it carries the same heart, a deep reverence for whole plant medicine and a desire to nourish what’s beneath the surface.
I let go of the essential oil-heavy blend and turned toward the wisdom of whole plants and a new generation of rich, reparative butters. Their textures, stability, and skin-loving profiles allowed me to create something more shelf-stable, more deeply moisturising, and more aligned with the way I now work - slower, earth-led, and grounded in the rhythms of the seasons.
Resin is still deeply aromatic, but in a more subtle, grounded way. It’s no longer about adding scent - it’s about letting the ingredients speak for themselves.
It’s richly textured, subtly aromatic, and made from whole plants that support dry, sensitive, or maturing skin. It offers a gentle alternative to synthetic actives - a balm of comfort for those navigating scars, fine lines, stress, or sensitivity.
Every jar holds slow-infused botanicals, skin-repairing butters, the quiet wisdom of nature and the herbalists that have come before.
Resin, reimagined - not just a skin balm, but a daily ritual of repair and nourishment.
